The method behind what's published here

What a right carries

Every right published here carries the provision that creates it, the part of the UK it applies in, and any condition or waiver attached to it, all in the same sentence. A right stated without its provision number is a summary, and a summary is not something you can check against the document in front of you. A buyer standing in a sales office or a resident holding a pitch fee review notice needs the paragraph that governs their situation.

Where a figure appears, it carries where it came from and when it was read. A provision read at legislation.gov.uk is dated, because legislation changes, and a reader checking the same provision later needs to know whether the version has moved since.

How a tribunal outcome is used

Where a dispute has reached the First-tier Tribunal Property Chamber, the outcome here is written up with its case reference, the site, the date of the determination, the figure decided, and the reasoning in a sentence. A determination shows how a provision was applied to one set of facts. It is not treated as a rule for every park, and where two determinations have reasoned differently, both are published rather than one standing in for a trend.

Where this site sends you instead

Some questions already have a good answer elsewhere. Where the Leasehold Advisory Service has set out a process in full, this site says so and names the service and the specific guide. What is added here, where it exists, sits alongside that advice: the decided outcomes a process guide does not carry.

Correcting a page

A page here was built on a provision number, a case reference or a dated document. Changing it takes the same thing: point to the provision, the case reference or the document that says something different from what is published, and send it to caravanparkhomes.

Provision and jurisdiction together

Every right is given with the provision that creates it and the part of the UK it applies in, in the same sentence.

Case references

Where a tribunal has decided a dispute, the case reference, date and figure are given so the determination can be checked independently.

Corrections by evidence

A page changes on a provision number, a case reference or a dated document, the same standard it was written to.

When the best answer is somewhere else

A provision number tells you what the law requires. A tribunal case reference tells you how that provision was applied on one set of facts. Neither tells you what to do about the letter sitting on your kitchen table, or whether the notice you were just handed is valid, or how to put your own case to a tribunal. That is a different kind of help, and it already exists.

The Leasehold Advisory Service

The Leasehold Advisory Service (parkhomes.lease-advice.org) gives free, independent, government-funded advice on park home law, including the pitch fee review process itself. Where a question is about your own agreement, that is the better place to take it.

This site's part is narrower than that. It names the provision behind a right, states any condition or waiver attached to it in the same sentence, and where a tribunal has already ruled on the point, it gives the case reference, the figure and the reasoning so the determination can be checked at source. Where that is as far as a citation can take a reader, the next step is named.

Reporting an error on a page

Statutes get amended, tribunal decisions get appealed, and provisions get renumbered. A page that was correct when it was written can fall behind one of those changes without anyone here noticing straight away. Where that has happened, the quickest way to put it right is a note that names the exact line it affects.

What helps when you flag something

This site cites its sources, so it asks for the same kind of evidence in return:

  • A provision number, so the clause can be checked against the current text at legislation.gov.uk.
  • A case reference, so the tribunal determination it concerns can be looked up directly.
  • A dated document, where the page describes something that has since changed.

A sense that a page seems wrong is harder to act on than any one of these. Each page states the date its provision was read, so pointing to that date is usually enough to show where it needs checking again.

Send what you've found to caravanparkhomes, with the page and the provision, case or document it concerns.
